I am appealing for sponsors to a charity that affects my family – Diabetes UK – when I do Chester Marathon (26.2 miles!) next weekend. PLEASE act fast, and sponsor me via my page at www.justgiving.com/sbarkeruk Remember I will be doing the hard work, so please motivate me to do even better by donating. And PLEASE pass on to your contacts too.
I am sure many Professional Electricians have heard the story from a customer many times … A really low quote was accepted (without questioning why) from a DIY electrician but upon ‘completion’, the job was very amateur, many complaints were made but by then they were nowhere to be seen … and worse … no certificates issues.
But this is not something where lessons are learned, it is something that some people fall for twice or more! Obviously this makes them nervous when choosing ANY ‘tradesperson’ in future, but also this has an impact on us professional electricians, it reduces our income (if we keep losing out like this).
I suppose on the flip side, being called out to rectify these messes made by the origional ‘electrician’ allows us to demonstrate the difference to the customer.
But HOW do we break this cycle, and ensure that customers go straight to the professional electrician, and accept that you get what you pay for? (Which should not be extortionate either, but great value for the quality of work being done correctly).
Your comments on this would be great.

For what is currently the highest rate on feed-in tariffs, with NO TIE IN period, we are able to provide 2p per unit MORE than the government recommended amount.

Solar Panel Installations can be handled in two main ways:
In either case, you gain from reduced electricity bills, but whether you also benefit from the feed in tariff (which is the larger return) is up to whether you have the cash to fund it (or in some cases will have the option to buy back into it later).
