This Customer had asked for a Metal light fitting to be fitted. Upon removing the existing fitting this was discovered. Firstly the circuit has definitely had it’s money’s worth! The second thing to notice is that there is no earth connection here (which is normal on older wiring where these were non-metal fittings), and so a new metal fitting would not be able to go here. A Light Circuit Rewire is definitely needed here!
This is very badly deteriorated, which has come from natural causes due to its age, being deterioration over time due to use, material degradation over time, and then additional deterioration from the heat of the lamps that were fitted (in this case a large 100 Watt filament lamp – extremely hard to get hold of, but the customer needs a bright light).
With a Light Circuit Rewire, if the design is not right then the light circuit will degrade faster. For example if the cable size is too small, it will degrade quicker, if the cable is not right for the materials it is routed against, or the temperature of the warmest parts of that route, then it will deteriorate faster. If installed near other services, these will have a detrimental effect. If the length of cable is too long (usually from a bad design), then this too will deteriorate faster, and then of course, if the most cost-efficient, reduced energy (and extremely low maintenance) parts are not used, then this will deteriorate faster. Of course faster deterioration means more money in the long term, and a bad installation means maintenance costs in the short term!
So next time you want a light circuit rewire designed correctly, tested and certified, registered with the local authority building control, and comes with after care and a warranty, then give us a call. In the long run we are the most cost-effective option, and our quote may well be less than you think. All quotes are FREE and in writing, so you know exactly what you are getting from the start.
In many cases we can install a light circuit where the running cost is ONE-TENTH of that original circuit AND the lamps are just as bright, but will last at least 30,000 hours!
We can advise on any of this completely free of charge, so call us today on 0113 397 1938 and start spending less than you need to.
