I was recently asked by Professional Electrician Magazine to produce a half page article for them. This came about because the editor had seen me on many occasions, advising technical issues (such as online booking, calendars, job management software and more). He also thinks that a lot of Electricians need to use the technology that is available so that they can free up their evenings and weekends.
You see, if Electricians don’t use the tools that are out there, they risk overworking and getting extremely stressed. Sadly that’s something I am only too aware of from my past, which is why I fixed it for my own business.
The best part is that technology makes things easier for the customers too!
Take for example, my online booking system, calendar booking or the navigation software (the one that tells you I am on the way to you)… These save me HOURS of time and they also help you as a customer too.
Imagine if all Electrician’s were less stressed due to using the tools that help them get things done?
Well these are super low cost to use too.
And I actually have a second business, Electricians Business Machine Ltd, this teaches Electricians UK wide to use such tools.

So you can see that I have a real serious passion for improving the Electrical Industry in Leeds and UK wide. The second business merges my love of Electrical and IT (I have a degree in Maths and Computing). My love of computing started when I was 11 years old, I would write machine code programs on the ZX Spectrum 48K! (Remember those?).

The inevitable is happening all around us now. This is not new. Look at self serve in shops (or Fast Food restaurants). It’s great that we can get served faster than heading to the staffed checkout. It’s also a relief that when shops have poor service (talking across to their colleagues and ignoring us) then we can also choose not to deal with them.
So now trades and other Electricians in Leeds and across the UK have no excuse either.
Customers are clearly used to this as an option. And of course the phone and email options should also be there too. But it gives more choice.
For Letting agents and Estate agents this is ideal because usually they would have to phone around for an Electrician then keep having conversations back and forth till the quote had been done. Then they have to liase with the tenant to arrange a time that the Electrician also agrees on. SO much time wasted! The modern way is for the agent to go online, get a price and have a confirmation and a calendar link sent to their email or mobile. Then the agent simply passes on this calendar link to the tenant so that they can book it at their preferred time. The Electrician is happy too, as this synchs to his cloud based calendar, so he gets a job booked without having to get involved.
