How much does PAT testing cost in Sheffield and leeds?
PAT testing costs £112.50 + VAT for up to 45 items, then £2.50 + VAT for each item after that. So 100 items is £250 + VAT and 200 items is £500 + VAT. Book it with an EICR and you save £25 + VAT. You pay on completion, and you can cancel up to 48 hours before at no charge.
In Leeds, jobs under £224 + VAT carry a £75 + VAT travel fee, so a small PAT test there costs more. Further afield, ask me for a price.
Is PAT testing a legal requirement?
There's no law that says "you must PAT test", but businesses and landlords must keep the electrical equipment they provide safe. PAT testing, with a dated record of the results, is the simplest way to show you've done that if an insurer, court or council ever asks.
How often should appliances be PAT tested?
It depends on the equipment and how hard it's used. Office equipment that stays on a desk can usually go longer between tests than kettles, extension leads or tools that get moved and knocked about. Construction site equipment needs testing far more often. I'll recommend a retest date for each item and write it on the certificate.
What do I get after a PAT test?
Every item gets a label, and you get a full certificate with the actual test results for each one, not just a list of passes. It's emailed to you the same day. Anything that fails is labelled and listed so you know exactly what to repair or replace.
How long does PAT testing take?
Less time than most people expect. With an automated tester, basic items like power supplies take about a minute each when they're grouped by area. Items wrapped around desks or more complex equipment take a bit longer, and I'll help you make it as quick as possible on the day.
Do landlords need PAT testing?
It isn't a legal requirement for most lets, but you are responsible for any appliances you supply being safe. A PAT certificate is your proof. Add it to the EICR visit and you save £25 + VAT.
